Awareness programmes for young people in educational and community settings

CAVDAS is a huge service with a big staff pool. All undertaking varying job roles in different elements of provision. Inhouse training is provided to ensure that staff have the skills & competencies to carry out their roles, but also have opportunities to develop themselves professionally.

We also provide specialist training to our partners cross sector in areas such as housing, health, education & criminal justice. There are a few ways people/services can access training.
The learning & development lead & harm reduction leads can liaise with services to understand their training needs and then visit them onsite to deliver.

We also run open courses through flyers & training calendars, depending on what provision we have available. I just want to note, we are in early stages of development, so most definitely appreciate when services contact us & we can tailor something to their needs.
All is free of charge

Some people don’t want to stop their drug and alcohol use but can reduce their risks when using. Our specialist harm reduction team not only provides this support but also provides advice and training to individual professionals and organisations on how to identify risks and reduce them.

Our harm reduction courses cover Naloxone training; substance use awareness; needle and syringe provision; simple testing for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV; sexual health and chemsex.

Our specialist team also delivers workshops with groups of young people in schools and colleges and other community youth settings. These are all delivered free and tailored to large groups, up to whole-year groups, or smaller identified groups and can be delivered out of hours if required. We also deliver awareness and education campaigns and join community events as part of this.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We support people to minimise the risks they take when using drugs or alcohol; enable those who want to move or continue to stay away from their use; and educate around drug and alcohol use. We have teams of professionals with particular specialisms and peers whose experience of drug and alcohol use makes them very well-placed to provide support.
